The evil is imminent! (Troubletwisters)

Somehow time has slipped past and it's May 2011, the month of the release of Garth Nix' new children's fantasy series with Sean Williams, Troubletwisters.

As part of three_weeks_for_dw, I thought I should try to give this community a kick in the pants. So! I'm curious, is anyone planning to read this series? I read The Seventh Tower years ago, and enjoyed it (for reference, I was in college at the time), but as good as Nix undeniably is at series fantasy, The Keys to the Kingdom have somewhat soured for me since I finished Lord Sunday last year, and I'm not feeling any particular urge to check out Troubletwisters immediately. But then, I've also never read any of Sean Williams' books. Am I making a mistake by not being the first to line up in the middle-grade section?

I confess that I saw the cover of Troubletwisters and went 'nah, looks too young for me.' However, if anyone has read it and thought it was quite good, I could easily be persuaded it give it a read. :)

I was on board until I saw that they called it 'the evil.' That sound you hear is my head beating against my desk.

But I'll probably wind up reading it eventually, all other things being equal, if only because Clariel is now a 2013 release (!) and A Confusion of Princes isn't due until next year.

Hmm, I'm intrigued, though I actually haven't read much at all of Nix's work outside of the Abhorsen trilogy. Maybe I'll see what people are saying about it on Goodreads.

The Abhorsen books are far and away my favorites. I've read just about everything else he's written with the exception of The Ragwitch; I think I'm in a minority for not really liking Shade's Children, though it's been eons since I've read it.

If, like me, you can't stand to wait for his forthcoming books (Clariel has been moved to a 2013 release, argh!), I'd recommend checking out The Keys to the Kingdom and The Seventh Tower--The Keys more than The Tower, I admit. I think Keys is the stronger series overall, though for my tastes he didn't quite stick the landing at the end of it.

I actually have read Mister Monday and have been meaning to read the rest of the series. I should see if my library has them since I'm probably not going to buy them.

I must admit I got bored in the middle of The Keys series and gave up, although I liked Shade's Children, so I probably won't bother. I'm looking forward to Clariel, though.

I am too! Particularly in light of the fact that, apparently, in her era Abhorsens are regarded as somewhere between relics and ratcatchers.
